Tue, 13-18 Jun 2023 O/N Jatbula - NT. Jatbula Trail is a 62 km one way walk departing from Nitmiluk Gorge, finishing at Leliyn (Edith Falls). The trail starts 30 kms from Katherine (NT), catching a ferry across the Katherine Gorge to start. 6 Days, 5 nights, each camp has a waterhole for swimming. Water & toilets at each camp Only 15 people per day are allowed so I shall be booking for whatever day I can get so the start date is flexible. Booking opens on 6/2/23. M/H 62 km
Thu, 23 Mar- 4 Apr 2023 O/N Heysen Trail - Sectional Year 1. The Heysen trail is 1,200 kms, but this will be a sectional walk over 4/5 years with a different section walked each year in a different season (ie out of fire season in winter when we do the flinders ranges). Approx 14 days and 250 kms per year, you don't need to do the lot over the 4/5 years but can choose which sections each year. 2023 (1st yr) we shall do the new Southern section from Cape Jervis to Victor Harbour, up the centre of the Fleurieu peninsula to Mt Lofty to end at Morialta Conserv'n Park. Thu, 23-30 Mar 2023 BC Combined Hobart/BBC base camp. This is now our 4th combined Base Camp. Originally at Daylesford, Hobart & Wilsons Prom. Next year we are visiting the NE Corner of Tasmania and those who have been on the Base Camps from the start have taken first preference. We will be catching the Ferrie from Geelong to Devonport. You can also fly and hire a car. H 16 km
Fri, 10-15 Feb 2023 BC Mt Stirling, Craigs Hut . First timers preference open 2 days. Preference will be given to New members for first 2 days of booking who would like to experience a base camp. Walks : Craigs Hut, Mt Stirling, Delatite River & Mc Loughlans Spur. Spectacular scenery 360 views. Several half day walks Please bring a compass if you would like compass experience/training. Sat, 14 Jan 2023 DAY Pt Leo to Flinders. A beach walk from Pt Leo to Flinders along the beaches of Westernport Bay. Search the rock formations for small creatures at low tides and enjoy the gentle surf and cooling summer breezes. Dolphins have been spotted in these waters. Chance to swim at morning tea and lunch. Suitable for both new members and club members wishing for a gentle return to walking after holiday festivities. E/M 14 km
Sun, 11 Dec CYC Xmas Bike Ride. Club's traditional Xmas Bike Ride is on again. The easy/medium morning bike ride starts with chicken and champagne breakfast and it is downhill from then onwards. E/M 20 km
Sat, 10 Dec DAY Lysterfield Park. Starting from Lysterfield Lake walk up the tramline track to Lysterfield L'ookout. Lunch at the boys farm and (hopefully) picking of some wild plums. Early finish. E/M 16 km
Sat, 3 Dec DAY Airey's Inlet Beach and Bush. A good, long circuit commencing at Distillery Creek Picnic area, and taking in the lighthouse, some cliff top and beach walking, then forest and heathland. A highlight is the picturesque Painkalak Dam. M 18 km
Fri, 2-4 Dec CON Alpine National Park, BTAC track management activity. This event is a Parks Victoria event on the AAWT Long Spur, Alpine National Park area, led by John Green. IN PLANNING. Thu, 1 Dec DAY Tarneit to Williams Landing. Travel by V/Line (myki usable) to Tarneit (Geelong line). Walk the Skeleton Creek and Federation Trails through Tarneit, Truganina and Hoppers Crossing to Williams Landing. Appreciate the re-vegetation and restoration work done over the last 30 years by the Friends of Skeleton Creek and Wyndham City Council. At Williams Landing (Werribee line), we catch Metro for our homeward journey. Committed bookings only; no book now, cancel later walkers, please. E 12 km
